In Loving Memory Of ... Caution this page is tear jerking, read at your own risk.
Updated January 10, 2010

I Only Wanted You

They say memories are golden, well maybe that is true.
I never wanted memories, I only wanted you.

A million times I needed you, a million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly, In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place, no one could ever fill.

If tears could build a stairway and heartache make a lane,
I'd walk the path to heaven and bring you back again.

Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

Ch. Lacelle's Emerald Princess (Princess)
May 15, 2001 - Dec. 6th 2009.

Princess was one of a kind and we will really miss her. She loved her milk bones and pizza crusts. We knew something was wrong when she would not come in when we called Milk Bone and when she refused to eat a milk bone once she was in. She chased after something in the yard and ended up twisting her stomach and bloating. She partially recovered but the Vet could not do anything for her but to end her pain. We had to let her go too early. I thanked her for spending her life with us and for all the great times before she left on her journey across the rainbow bridge. Princess we really miss you and we will meet you again in Heaven.

Princess shown after winning Best of Breed at the Ottawa Show May 26th, 2002 at one year old. Handler and owner Dave Swift. Princess 3 years old. Princess 4 years old with a litter of puppies.

Princess was born May 15, 2001.

She has gave us two wonderful litters of puppies for a total of 10 puppies. She ended up with an open pyometria (infection of the uterus) and had to be spayed. Luckily Dave caught it very early and she is fine. Pyometria can be extremely serious and can even end up in the death of the dog. Then 1.5 weeks after this surgery she had a major amount of bleeding and ended up in intensive care at the Vet. Apparently there was still some infection and this may have caused the bleeding. Princess has now fully recovered. We thank God that Princess is alright and is still with us to spend the rest of her hopefully long life.

Knighterrant's Diesel
(click on the photos below to see enlarged in a new window)

Diesel was born May 7th 2000 and passed away peacefully February 23rd 2009 with his owner Karen and Dave by his side. He was almost 9 years old. He was from Angel x Dragon I. Diesel and his life long friend Dozer came back into our lives in January 2009 living with us due to their parents breakup. We had grown to love Diesel quite easily. He was extremely gentle, easy going and loved his attention. We will miss him but know that he is watching us from above and we have gained another guardian angel.

Diesel is shown above at 8 years old and with Dozer in the second photo.

DayDream Acres Look'n Good (Iris)
(click on the photos below to see enlarged in a new window)

11 weeks old. 5 months old. 6 months with Dragon. 18 months old on the left with Dave Swift, owner, and Kate on the right.

May 13th, 2004 - May 20th 2009.

Iris had gone to a new home as we could not breed her due to her test results. She did not settle in well. She ran away when
a stranger was watching her for the new owner, after she was there for only a couple of weeks. Iris managed to survive on her own for a few weeks in downtown Sudbury - but damaged her puds due to severe frost-bite, requiring surgery when found. After this she was never the same around people. We took her back and she was fine with us. We tried to bring her back into our pack of mastiffs and everything seemed to be going well. Suddenly and without warning she attacked one of our other mastiffs and she received most of the damage. Iris had to be put down due to her injuries. It is sad and we miss you Iris. We hope you are happy in heaven and at peace now.

Knighterrant's Crown Jewel (Jewel)
(click on the photos below to see enlarged in a new window)

5 weeks old. 8 and 10 weeks old. Just over 4 months old with her brother Bear.
5 months old with 6 week old puppies. 6 months old with mastiff puppies. 9 months old.

Jewel was born June 3, 2005 and died way too early on July 10th 2006 of heat stroke when the air conditioning in the dog building failed. Please do not rely on air conditioning on hot days unless you have an alarm for the temperature that you can respond to if it gets too high. Jewel was just like her mom Princess, but apricot. We really loved her and looked forward to spending many years with her and showing and breeding her. June 10th was truly a tragic day for Knighterrant Mastiffs.

Knighterrant's Leroy Brown (Leroy)

2.5 months old

5.5 months old.
Leroy with Bear June 2006, 9 months old.

Leroy was born October 19th, 2005 he also died way too early July 10th, 2006 from heat stroke when the air conditioning in the dog building failed. Do not rely on air conditioning to keep your dogs cool in the hot summer. Leroy was our sweetheart. He had superb bone, temperament and was definitely one of our favourites. We were looking so forward to spending many years with him and showing and breeding him.

Knighterrant She's No Angel (Angel)
(click on the photos below to see enlarged in a new window)

June 1997 - July 10, 2006. Angel also died of heat stroke with Leroy and Jewel. She fought hard but just couldn't come back to us. Leroy was one of her grandsons. She is also great grandma to Oscar and Page and many more. Angel had a good life and gave us many wonderful puppies. We are truly saddened that her life was cut short. We really miss you Angel and you are now a true Angel.

A Tribute to George (June 3rd, 2005 - June 27th, 2005)

It is with great sadness that we said goodbye too soon to the Apricot male "George."
He died suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday June 27th at the age of 3 and 1/2 weeks.
Mom changed from a sitting position while feeding the puppies to lay down. Unfortunately with a few minutes of  inattention George was suffocated. CPR failed to bring him back. We will never leave any mom alone with the puppies ever again even for a moment. Maybe this message will help to save another puppy from such a tragic and senseless death.

George will be greatly missed and certainly remembered for the joy he brought to our lives for the short time he was with us. We have a new guardian angel watching over us. Good Bye George and God's Speed.

Poem For The Living

When I am dead,
Cry for me a little.
Think of me sometimes,
But not too much.

It is not good for you
Or your wife or your husband
Or your children
To allow your thoughts to dwell
Too long on the dead.

Think of me now and again
As I was in life
At some moment which is pleasant to recall,
But not for long.

Leave me in peace
As I shall leave you, too, in peace.
While you live,
Let your thoughts be with the living.
