Retired
Updated Sunday, January 10, 2010

This page features our dogs who have retired. They have either had puppies and have now retired or we could not breed them for one reason or another. You will find Grace, and Bear first - they remain with us. Luna, Oscar, Page, and Kate have been placed in new homes. They are all listed below.

Grace as a puppy. Grace after winning Best of Breed, Kars Show, July 16th 2005. Judge Denise Cornelssen, Handler and owner Dave Swift. Grace in the drivers seat on the way home from winning Best of Breed at Kars. Grace October 19th, 2005 just before giving birth to 7 puppies. Grace September 2007 after recovering from her litter of 9 puppies.

Grace was born June 17, 2003.

Parents: Knighterrant's She's No Angel & Ch. Baskerville's Magnus Augustus
CERF, PennHip, OFA hips (Good), OFA elbow normal, OFA heart clear, Thyroid normal, PRA clear by DNA.

Grace developed open pyometria, an infection of the uterus, and was spayed on an emergency basis on January 16th, 2008. She has recovered quite well and we hope that she spends many more years with us enjoying her retirement. She is an awesome dog and has given us much love and joy over the years, including 26 puppies, from 3 different litters, for many to enjoy.

Sire: Baskerville's Raven Aiden
Dam: Ch. Lacelle's Emerald Princess

Bear was born June 3rd 2005.

Bear injured his elbow and required surgery. Elbow dysplasia could not be ruled out but - it is usually present in both elbows when genetic. Bear's other elbow is fine. Because of the possibility of this being genetic Bear has been neutered and will not be bred. He will remain with our family as he is a fine example of the Mastiff temperament - he is a true gentle giant.

The following dogs have retired and have been placed in new homes:

Knighterrant's Total Eclipse "Luna"

7 months old 20 months old

Parents: Dam Knighterrant's Amazing Grace, Sire Ch. Baskerville's Prince Lothar (Bubba)
Born: September 14th, 2006.
Testing: PRA clear by parentage, CERF, her hip and elbow testing was not optimal for breeding. Luna had an ACL tear and repair at 18 months old and her joints are probably not optimal due to this added stress to her system. Luna was spayed and has been placed in a great new home where she will get lots of love and attention.

Page 14 months old. Page with her new family May 2008.

Page was born October 31st, 2005.

Sire: Day Dream Acres Wish Upon A Star (Yogi)
Dam: Millridge Daisy Mae

CERF, OFA elbow normal, Thyroid normal, Von Willebrand's normal, OFA Heart. Unfortunately Page has hip dysplasia by both PennHip and OFA so she will not be bred. She is showing no signs at all of any hip problems and we were shocked with the results - but both PennHip and OFA agree. Page is an awesome dog. Page was placed in a new home and is really enjoying her new family.

Knighterrant's Kiss Me Kate (Kate)
(click on the photos below to see enlarged in a new window)

Kate 6 weeks old. Kate 9 weeks old. Kate 6 months old with Samson. 9 Months old. Kate 1 year old.

Kate on the right, 17 months old with owner Dave Swift and Iris on the left.

Kate was born June 30th, 2004.

Kate developed pyometria and had to be spayed. She will not be having any puppies. We will be placing Kate in a new home as she is a wonderful dog and will make someone very happy.

Parents: Ch. Lacelle's Emerald Princess and Ch. Baskerville's Magnus Augustus
PRA clear by parentage, CERF, OFA elbow, OFA thyroid. Her hips were done by OFA and PennHip but were slightly loose - she came into heat right after they were x-rayed. We would have had them re-done but she developed pyometria.

Kate was placed in a new home and is really enjoying her new family.

Oscar in his new home - May 2008

Sire: Day Dream Acres Wish Upon A Star (Yogi)
Dam: Millridge Daisy Mae

Born October 31st, 2005.

PennHip Clear, OFA Heart, OFA Thyroid, Prelim OFA elbows normal. Oscar did not pass CERF as he has intermediate cataracts on both eyes. We are not sure if this was nutritional - one of 16 puppies, or if it is genetic. This should not affect his vision. We are not going to breed him. Oscar has been neutered and is enjoying his retirement. Oscar is one of everyone's favourites when they come to visit.

It was really a difficult decision for us to make to place Oscar in a new home - he was one of our most favourite Mastiffs ever. He was still very interested when the girls came into heat so we could not chance a fight with him and our two breeding males over the girls. Oscar is really enjoying all of his attention with his new family.
